The next Comp in Focus luncheon will be held on Tuesday, September 18th, 2018, in the Twelfth Night room at Antoine's Restaurant in New Orleans.
Vocational rehabilitation counselor Louis Lipinski will discuss vocational rehabilitation strategies, specifically transferable skills analysis.

Louis Lipinski is a certified vocational consultant and owner and operator of Lipinski and Associates LLC.

Mr. Lipinski holds a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology from Bethany College in Bethany, West Virginia, a Master's Degree in Psychology from the University of Southwestern Louisiana in Lafayette, and has been a doctoral candidate in School Psychology at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. He has also qualified as an Expert in the field of Vocational Rehabilitation in courtrooms throughout the State of Louisiana.

Now that Mr. Lipinski has been certified as a Life Care Planner, we’ve had a few people asking what that means, and how it’s important to a court case outcome. Below is how we answer those questions.

The life care plan is a document based upon published standards of practice, comprehensive assessment, data analysis, and research, which provides an organized, concise plan for current and future needs with associated costs for individuals who have experienced catastrophic injury or have chronic health care needs. Life care planning is a process for evaluating the patient and disability in order to establish all of the needs dictated by the onset of that disability.

The life care plan specifies the long-term medical, psychological, and rehabilitation needs of an individual throughout his/her lifetime. Within the judicial and insurance settings it is used to establish an accurate profile of the long term needs, recommendations and costs associated with the onset of the particular disability involved.

We received an exciting invitation here today.

Mr. Lipinski has been asked to speak at ITI Technical College about the importance of Medical Coding and how it impacts Life Care Planning. Each time you visit a doctor or specialist, a specific code is given to each individual line item to evaluate pricing. This, in turn, helps to assess a dollar figure in court for any chronically ill or injured individuals. The coding aides Mr. Lipinski in figuring out the current and future needs, along with any related costs, for individuals with complex medical issues.

It's always wonderful to get positive feedback, especially when coming from a trusted source in Louisiana's judicial system. It's even more thrilling when a judge's statement acts as an official ruling.
