--Experience--
After graduating from law school in 1979, firm founder, Thomas C. Damico, worked for 5 years as an assistant district Attorney for the East Baton Rouge Parish. In 1984, he left the prosecutor's office and began to apply his knowledge of criminal law in his own defense practice. Our Attorney, Thomas C. Damico, is a hardworking advocate of defendant's rights and a lifelong student of the law. It is quickly apparent to clients and court officials that he enjoys criminal defense work and is very good at it. His success in state and federal cases has earned Mr. Damico a strong reputation among other defense Attorneys, prosecutors, and judges. Brent Stockstill graduated from law school in 1989 and immediately began practicing as a prosecutor in the East Baton Rouge District Attorney's office. During the next 18 years of service in that position, Mr. Stockstill earned a reputation as an aggressive and successful trial lawyer. His performance in the job earned him the position of Section Chief in the District Attorney's office. As Section Chief he not only handled the most complicated and highly publicized cases in the section, but he was responsible for the training of other lawyers in the office as well as investigators and staff. It was that reputation, knowledge and experience that Mr. Stockstill had earned that caused Mr. Damico to seek him out for partnership in his firm. Mr. Damico needed an aggressive and experienced trial lawyer and sought to take the best one from the ranks of the District Attorney's office; the addition of Mr. Stockstill met that goal. Following graduation from LSU's Paul M. Hebert Law Center in 2022, Zachary Hire was admitted to the Louisiana State Bar and began his career in criminal defense at the East Baton Rouge Public Defender's office, before joining Damico & Stockstill Attorneys in 2024. Hire's philosophy revolves around an unwavering dedication to justice and rights of every individual. He is a staunch believer in the presumption of innocence and the principle that every person deserves a fair trial, regardless of the accusations they face. Hire's approach blends meticulous preparation with empathy for his clients, ensuring their voices are heard and their cases are represented with skill and integrity.
