Several of our members were honored to join our colleagues from the New Orleans Chapter of the Federal Bar Association for its annual luncheon featuring a very special guest speaker, Justice Amy Coney Barrett.

Pictured are Baton Rouge Chapter members Mark Barbre, Candace B. Ford, Tara Johnston Mahaffey, Wes Clark, and Jennifer Baker. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with fellow FBA members and hear from one of the nation’s highest-ranking jurists.

Thank you to everyone who joined the Baton Rouge Chapter of the Federal Bar Association for another outstanding CLE program Friday afternoon!

We were honored to welcome Professor Tom Galligan, who provided an insightful analysis of the most significant developments in Louisiana tort law following the sweeping legislative changes enacted during the Summer 2025 session. His thoughtful discussion of the evolving legal landscape gave attendees valuable practical guidance for navigating these important changes.

Thank you, Professor Galligan, for sharing your expertise, and thank you to all of our members and guests who attended. Programs like these help keep our legal community informed, engaged, and connected.

We look forward to seeing you at our next FBA-BR event!

Professor Galligan is pictured with FBA-BR Board Member Emily LaCerte, who planned and coordinated this excellent program.

Building connections today to strengthen our legal community tomorrow.

The Baton Rouge Chapter of the Federal Bar Association was thrilled to host our Annual Summer Law Clerk Happy Hour at Bayes Oyster Bar on June 25th, celebrating the next generation of the legal profession.

The evening brought together summer law clerks, judges, attorneys, and FBA members for an opportunity to build relationships, share experiences, and strengthen connections within our federal legal community. Events like these help introduce future lawyers to the practice of federal law while fostering the professional relationships that will shape our bar for years to come.

Advocacy and Leadership in action!

Baton Rouge Chapter Board Member Jennifer Baker and Former Chapter President and Current Fifth Circuit Vice President Mark Barbre (pictured with our Louisiana delegation) participated in the FBA’s Capitol Hill Day on March 26. Through this non-partisan advocacy program, our members serve as a resource for Congress on legislative issues that directly impact the efficiency and security of our federal judicial system. Thanks to Senators John Kennedy and Bill Cassidy and Representatives Steve Scalise, Troy A. Carter, Sr., Julia Letlow, Cleo Fields and Speaker Mike Johnson for meeting with us.

Baton Rouge Chapter President Edward Warner and Membership Chair Jennifer Baker are in Washington, D.C., for the 2026 FBA Leadership Summit. This summit brings together chapter leaders nationwide to share best practices for programming, member engagement, and supporting the federal legal profession. We’re excited to bring these new insights back home to our members in Baton Rouge!
