Please be advised that if you have received citations, it should not be ignored. It would be best to respond to the citation accordingly. Landlords won't just be fined or penalized; failure to comply may result to court appearances, additional citations, financial implications, and persecutions. The citations aren't targeting compliant landlords, rather they are targeting negligent rental property owners.

Cleveland ticketed 277 landlords for lead safety. To date, about 4% of those property owners have proven to the city their homes are safe.

Important Update
On Friday, Oct.11, 2024, Mayor Justin M. Bibb announced that the city will focus its lead poisoning prevention resources on risk assessment, abatement and expedited removal of lead hazards in order to protect Cleveland’s children from lead poisoning.

The announcement comes following the release of Cleveland Department of Public Health’s (CDPH) most recent data brief, which shows progress on lowering lead poisoning rates in Cleveland has stagnated.

We presented at our daughter’s career day! We are the first ever “duo” to present, and we talked about construction, safety in construction, and lead clearance testing. What an honor it was to be surrounded by children. We learn from them as much as they learn from us.

There is no level of exposure to lead that is known to be without harmful effects and we believe no child or adult should ever be lead poisoned.
Lead exposure is preventable!
