ernor of the state to take acknowledgments, administer oaths, attest to photocopies of certain documents, solemnize marriage, protest the non-acceptance or non-payment of negotiable instruments, and perform other duties specified by law. What do I need to get a document or form notarized? A valid ID is required for any notary service regardless of the circumstance. Witnesses are also required for the notarization of certain documents or forms. (Please address any questions regarding ID and/or witnesses prior to setting up an appointment. If you cannot provide a witness, arrangements can be made to provide one for you.) What forms of ID are accepted? State-issued driver's license

What can you NOT notarize? The state of Tennessee prohibits notarization of the following documents in order to prevent fraud:
Blank or unsigned documents
Pre-signed documents (all documents must be signed in the presence of the notary)
Photographs
How to prepare for your notary appointment:
Know what type of notarization you need. Ensure the document is completed in all areas needed. Make sure you have valid and acceptable identification. Make sure the name listed on your documents matched the name on your ID. All signers listed on the document must be present, including witnesses, for the notarization. Witnesses may not be family or have any beneficial interest in the document being notarized. Make sure you understand the document you are needing to have notarized. Forms of Payment accepted
