Gallagher is proud to announce an expanded partnership with The Franciscan Center of Baltimore, made possible through a distribution of cy pres funds following a recent court settlement.

The support will fund renovations to the kitchen and serving line at the Franciscan Center's main campus in Baltimore's Old Goucher neighborhood, equipping the organization to continue providing more than a thousand nutritious meals daily to its guests and clients. In recognition of Gallagher's longstanding commitment to the Franciscan Center, the space will be named Gallagher's Café.

Congratulations to the mock trial team at Cumberland’s Bishop Walsh School on winning the Maryland state title for the second consecutive year!

The team competed against 143 teams from across the state, arguing the championship round in the Supreme Court of Maryland — a remarkable achievement for a school with fewer than 100 high school students.

We love seeing the next generation develop the skills that make great lawyers: dedication, confidence, and the ability to think on their feet. Well done to the students, coaches, and everyone who supported them.

Maryland's new paid family and medical leave program is coming, and every employer in the state needs to prepare.

The Maryland Family and Medical Leave Insurance (FAMLI) program takes effect January 1, 2027, applying to any employer with at least one employee performing services in Maryland. Contributions, reporting requirements, and employee notification obligations are all on the horizon, and the steps employers take now will matter.

Gallagher partner Meghan Casey was recently named a recipient of the Catherine C. Blake Exceptional Service Award by the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland. The award recognizes her work as part of a subcommittee of the Court's Rules and Forms Committee, which recommended revisions to the Local Rules governing the awarding of attorneys’ fees.

Gallagher was proud to support the Maryland Volunteer Lawyers Service’s A Taste for Pro Bono, celebrating 45 years of advancing access to justice across Maryland.

The evening brought together attorneys, volunteers, and community partners to support MVLS’s mission of providing free civil legal assistance to Marylanders who otherwise could not afford representation.

We’re especially proud of our colleagues David Sommer, who serves as President of the MVLS Board of Directors, and Meghan Casey, who served on the host committee for the event. Their leadership and the ongoing work of MVLS volunteers help ensure that more Marylanders can access the legal support they need.

Gallagher is honored to announce the creation of an endowed fund supporting the Fannie Angelos Program at the University of Baltimore School of Law.

Established through a distribution of cy pres funds, the new endowment will provide program participants with resources, including tutoring stipends, LSAT and bar exam fee coverage, and awards for students pursuing public service summer employment. For students who might otherwise face financial barriers on the path to a legal career, this support can make all the difference.
