It has been an exceptionally busy Summer for our trial attorneys. We have successfully resolved fourteen plaintiff's cases, arising from real estate frauds committed on our Clients in Baltimore City transactions, and another half-dozen cases involving real estate disputes arising from broker and agent activities.
Our lawyers gravitate to real estate and title disputes because this Country was founded on basic property rights- the right to own, transfer freely, enjoy and profit from ownership. It is the basis for establishing an economic foundation for communities and families.
Sadly, Baltimore City remains mired in a crisis mostly of its own making. With over 15,000 vacant properties, and no cogent plan for returning them to productive use, our City remains fertile ground for outsiders to commit a variety of financial frauds based on the transfer of ownership, financing and rehab of vacant and stressed City properties.
Real developers, with some sense of civic pride, face great disincentives to invest in our City. Our puddle of vacants remains, and will remain an attractive nuisance, drawing the charlatans and ill-intentioned flippers who see our infirm housing stock as mere trampoline, to bounce money in and immediately out of Baltimore to their out-of-State and offshore accounts.
We can do better.
