As we usher in a new year, I remain especially thankful for my loving family, and friends like family. From my Northeasterners, Inc. sisters, to The Cousins, We Empower Women, and so many more, I am surrounded by a solid group of women, and blessed with their friendship and sisterhood.

I am also especially thankful to do what I love, and love what I do. Thank you to my clients, and The Daily Record, whose readers selected Brooks Law LLC as the 2024 Reader Rankings “Best Law Firm - Criminal Defense,” AND “Best Law Firm- Employment Law;” the Maryland State Bar Association – MSBA, for featuring me in the Fall 2024 Maryland Bar Journal, and providing me with a platform to discuss my path and passion for the law and due process; Super Lawyers, on my selection to the 2025 Maryland Super Lawyers list; and University of Maryland, School of Law, my law school alma mater, for inviting me to speak to first generation law students!

Wonderful first Junior League of Baltimore 2024-2025 League year meeting of the Sustainer Council. Thank you to all who attended and for your vigorous participating. The excitement and passion for the League is palpable, and I look forward to working together in furthering our mission to advance women’s leadership for meaningful community impact through volunteer action, collaboration, and training. A special thanks to our President, Marla Johnson for your attendance and participating.

Great time catching up with my friend, and one-time colleague and supervisor Katherine Moxley Smeltzer. I will always remember when as a district court prosecutor, I found myself handling a case that required knowledge of DNA. I had NONE. I frantically called Kate, whom I did not know, and begged for help. What I did know, was that Kate prosecuted high level, felony s*x offense crimes in Circuit Court, and she knew her stuff. Long story longer, Kate invited me to her office, and gave me a run-down of all things DNA. She took time out of her busy schedule to meet with me, and I learned the basics and enough to successfully try my case. Years later, Kate was my supervisor in the Special Victims Unit, and throughout those years and since, has become my friend.

Today, Kate continues her public service career, serving the citizens of Anne Arundel County. Thanks for making time for me again, Kate! ❤️
