So, the Alzheimer's Disease Association of Kern County is closing its doors after more than 40 years. Among other programs, they provided adult day care for people with dementia, crucial respite for caretakers.
Unfortunately, the media is not telling the full truth about why.
The so-called "Big Beautiful Bill" enacted by Trump and the Republican Party slashed a lot of healthcare programs - including subsidies for adult day care. There are far bigger cuts scheduled for next year, if the bill is not reversed. This will inevitably mean rural hospital closures, and the end of many other programs that serve ordinary people.
You can read between the lines in the media article: ADAKC had to end their day care program earlier this year. It ended because the "private pay model" didn't work - that is because when the government funding went away, local seniors weren't rich enough to pay out of pocket. (Most seniors aren't sitting on piles of money - particularly true in Red State America.) Without a source of revenue, the entire organization folded. And now local seniors are left without a key service.
All so billionaires could have their tax cut.
Remember this when you vote. And also, hold media accountable for covering for Trump and the GOP.

It's good to see this finally enacted. I know people who got trapped in terrible work environments with low pay because of these "agreements," which are meant to shift the cost of training onto workers. If you treat your employees well and pay them competitive wages, you won't need to trap them.

Gov. Gavin Newsom recently signed several bills into law that will impact California workers, including one that prevents trapping them in debt.

This lawsuit is going nowhere. Even if there is some sort of collusion within the NFL (like there definitely was regarding Colin Kaepernick), the fatal problem here is that of standing to sue. No sports league owes a duty to make fans happy.

A fan filed a lawsuit against the National Football League, citing “emotional distress and trauma” after Shedeur Sanders was drafted later than expected.
