How I Came To Real Estate!
I have spent the last 30+ years helping families... In good times and in not so good times. As early as 11 years of age, I babysat for neighbors so they could have some much deserved quiet time without the kiddos. At 14, I got my first official job at USA Skates and had the pleasure to celebrating Birthdays with hundreds of families. At 18, I started my babysitting job with friends and family and in 2001 became an official licensed business in the State of Indiana. I have cherished helping young families over the last 27 years - families going through financial struggles, abuse situations, deaths in the family.... I have also celebrated with many families who were welcoming a new member, single moms going to school and the excitement when they graduated, new homes and schools... I feel a little selfish because while I helped so many families through so many events in their lives, it was myself who really benefited. I benefited because I am who I am now because of them.
It was my best friend, Dave Danz, whom over the years would mention that I would be a great realtor that convinced me to at least see what it was all about “behind the scenes” so I started the classes and studied and studied. I took, and passed, the state exam on the first try. A few months later, after praying on it over and over again, I came to the conclusion that I was ready for the next chapter in my life and wanted to help families with their path to the new chapters in their lives... whether it be newlyweds looking for their first home, young families needing a larger home, empty nesters ready to downsize, and those who have had to say goodbye to their loved ones and must sell their loved one’s home.
I now work with one of Indiana’s most successful real estate firms, Carpenter Realtors and I learned quickly that this is not just my place of employment, but rather they are truly wonderful people who have taken me in like family! I love the clients I meet and hearing their stories! I enjoy walking through homes with buyers listening to them talk about what they like about it and what they don’t and I cherish those who trust David and me to help them deal with the not so happy times. I also enjoy helping sellers find buyers who will be making new memories in the homes they themselves have created so many memories.
So, there’s the gist of how, and why, I changed chapters in my life and started listing and selling homes. I’ve been blessed over the years and am excited to see who I will meet over the next many years! I imagine it’s going to be a whole lot of wonderful people!
