Last Sunday, my husband Scott and I chaired Ellie’s Army Dirty Socks 5k walkathon.

Ellie’s Army Foundation is dedicated to supporting critically ill children and families in memory of Ellie Levy who battled cystic fibrosis and fought to survive two back-to-back double lung transplants. Ellie was a warrior who wanted to help others, and Ellie’s Army Foundation does just that. It is my honor to be the president of the board.

This walkathon is called “Dirty Socks” because the children in the hospital wear medical socks and must walk to get well. Ellie’s doctor told her he wanted to see dirty socks. So...Ellie walked, and walked, and walked.

Ellie’s Army provides the funds necessary to help increase the chances of survival for children and young adults battling critical illness while relieving the ongoing stress of not being able to afford the basic necessities of living.
