Austin friends wondering what to do this weekend (other than Saturday night 6:30-9:30 pm 🤘🏽🧡🏈)

And because it’s apparently still 100° in September, I planned accordingly.

🥾 SATURDAY: HILL COUNTRY MORNING
Start early at Pedernales Falls before Texas remembers it’s Texas. 😂 Keep the hike short, enjoy the falls, then head back toward Dripping for coffee at Mazama.

🍷 SATURDAY AFTERNOON: WINE + AIR CONDITIONING
Hawk’s Shadow Estate Winery has a Winemaker Experience that sounds SO cool — five wines plus barrel tastings inside their underground limestone cellar. It’s about $70/person and you’ll want a reservation.

🚣‍♀️ SUNDAY MORNING: LADY BIRD LAKE
If you want to venture into Austin, rent a kayak early and paddle Lady Bird Lake before it gets hot. Then grab Desnudo Coffee and brunch at Launderette.

🍷 SUNDAY NIGHT: GRAPES FOR GOOD
This is probably the event I’m most intrigued by. More than 20 sommeliers and wine pros, premium wine, food from Austin restaurants, music + a silent auction. It’s Sunday from 6–9 PM and benefits Good Work Austin.

And if you have ZERO interest in hiking when it’s going to be 100°…

🥐 SATURDAY: LEARN TO MAKE KOLACHES
Central Market has a hands-on Czech kolache class where you make fruit + cheese kolaches and sausage klobasnek. Then coffee, AC, and call it “outdoorsy adjacent.” 😂

📊✨ January 2026 brought some interesting shifts to the Austin Metro real estate scene! Whether you’re buying, selling, or just watching the market, there’s plenty to take note of 👀🏡

In the resale market, we saw a slight dip in sold prices 📉—with the average sold price at $545,356 (down 3.0%) and median sold price at $414,699 (down 2.7%). But here’s the silver lining: average days on market dropped by 12% to just 93 days, indicating faster movement and growing buyer interest! ⏱️🔥

Across the broader market, things are balancing out. Average sold price nudged up to $539,487 (+0.8%), even though median price saw a small drop. New listings were slightly down, but inventory sits at 5.0 months, keeping us in a healthy, balanced place ⚖️🏘️

No matter which angle you look from, 2026 is already proving to be dynamic! Whether you’re planning to list soon or are scouting your next home, understanding the trends is key. 🗝️✨

U.S. population growth slowed sharply in 2025 as international immigration declined, according to new Census estimates. The population rose by 1.8 million to 331.5 million, a 0.5% growth rate, the lowest since 2021.

Net international migration totaled 1.26 million, down from 2.7 million in 2024. The drop comes as President Donald Trump pushes stricter immigration policies, arguing they could ease housing affordability, though home prices are still rising nationally.
