Today the House Public Health Committee is hearing HB 1686. This bill would COMPLETELY BAN transgender youth from receiving essential, lifesaving healthcare. If you can show up at the Texas Capitol today to give testimony or register your opposition of the bill that would be wonderful. In Texas, Gov. Greg Abbott and Attorney General Ken Paxton still want gender-affirming care to be investigated as child abuse. That directive has thankfully been blocked by the courts, but Paxton and Abbott will keep trying.

It is important now, more than ever, that we continue to show our support by amplifying the voices of the transgender community, celebrating their accomplishments and committing to building a world where everyone can thrive.

Good news for surviving spouses in our community who would have married, but couldn’t. The Trump era prohibition has been lifted and they can now get Social Security Benefits. Please help spread the word. And please stay involved in politics for the mid-term elections and so Trump isn’t elected again.

Challenging a policy that limited survivor’s benefits to married couples, even though some couples were legally barred from marriage, took years.

Today, life for gay families is so much easier than it was when Sarah and I struggled to figure out how to be parents more than 20 year ago and giving to Family Equality is a no-brainer way of expressing our gratitude.

Family Equality has been the very effective national voice for LGBTQ+ families for many decades, providing us politically with a strong voice in Washington, DC and personally with so many resources. (Provincetown week, parenting advice, organizational help for local play groups, state-by-state legal guidance - and so much more)

I have been watching this case for months. The decision is the best possible bad ruling we could have. The Justices looked at the contract Philadelphia had with Catholic Social Services, which stated that the city could make individual exceptions to the city’s non-discrimination law. So, this SCOTUS ruling is on a technical aspect of contract law, which is surely why the liberal justices joined the unanimous decision.

The national wave of hate has made its way to Texas where lawmakers have filed 13 bills specifically targeted against transgender youth.

Last legislative session the huge outcry against the "bathroom bill" from so many Texans convinced legislators that the issue was just too controversial to pursue. We can do that again - with your help.
