For more than a decade, this $2,500 scholarship has been awarded to a college-bound senior who has at least one parent or guardian employed by an Illinois public school.

The scholarship is named in honor of Dr. Stacy Burroughs, who devoted his career to supporting the men and women of the Illinois Education Association.

🎉 Big congratulations to our 2026 Burroughs Educational Scholarship winner — Ella J. Tutwiler!

Ella, a senior at Bismarck-Henning Rossville-Alvin Cooperative High School with a 4.2 GPA, is heading to Ball State University to pursue a dual major in early childhood education and special education. She's been volunteering at her mother's school since she was little, and her passion for helping students shines through: “I have a passion for helping the students at her school and I cannot wait to have a classroom of my own.”

This marks the 10th year we've proudly awarded this $2,500 scholarship to support the children of Illinois public school educators. Ella is exactly the kind of dedicated, high-achieving student we envisioned when we created the Burroughs Educational Scholarship.
