The three guilty verdicts of Derek Chauvin for the outrageous blatant murder of George Floyd is welcoming news. Although the evidence was overwhelming that he was guilty of this heinous murder, my life and legal experience has shown me time and again that we cannot depend upon our current legal system as we know it to bring justice for black victims of crime in this country. So I was surprised and pleased that a unanimous verdict of guilt across the board came out of the more than half white jury room. The overwhelming sense of sadness and outrage accompanied feelings of relief that I still have to sort out. I think because I was well aware, I knew, it could have gone either way - in a factual situation that was so crystal clear right before our very eyes - this fills me with sadness and outrage. The relief comes knowing there will be one murderer held accountable amongst many still free and unaccounted, still snatching valued black lives under color of law.

Rayshard Brooks. SAY HIS NAME. He was murdered on his daughters birthday, shot in the back three times by police as he ran away with a non- lethal taser, after resisting arrest. Police officers killed him, then strategically collected their shell casings, altering a murder scene, before ever checking for a pulse or offering aid of any kind. These officers do not need ADDITIONAL TRAINING. These officers are trained. They have NO VALUE for BLACK LIVES. THEY MUST BE ARRESTED AND CHARGED NOW. There will never any community trust in the police until and unless they are held accountable for their illegal acts.

The GBI says officers tried to take the man into custody after he failed a sobriety test. Witnesses reported a struggle between the man and officers over a Taser.
