It is with heavy hearts that we share with you that Melissa and her mother were tragically killed on Sunday.

So many people and systems failed her. Melissa deserved safety, peace, and a chance to live free from fear.

Over the last 3.5 years, we came to know Melissa closely. She let us into her world. She fought for her life, her future, and for her son every single day. She wanted nothing more than to protect her son and give him the life he deserved. Her mother stood by her side every step of the way with unwavering love and courage.

Our deepest condolences go out to her brothers, who loved Melissa and Mrs. Domingo dearly. We are deeply saddened that her story ended this way. We will carry Melissa’s memory, her fight, and her love for her son with us always.

Melissa Cui Domingo, recently granted immunity for shooting her abusive husband Hajir Talebzadeh (pictured) in self-defense in 2021, was fatally shot Sunday by that same man! Her mother Elizabeth Cui Domingo, 74, was also fatally shot by Talebzadeh in a Best Buy parking lot in Augusta.

The shooting happened during a custody exchange. Their 5-year-old child witnessed it but was physically unharmed.
