The City of Rock Valley and the Rock Valley Police Department want to congratulate Officer Kerr and K9 Gus for a job well done. The pair recently competed in the 2026 Regional Detector Dog Certification/ Narcotic Trials held in Burlington, Iowa. They teamed with other K9s from the Sheldon Police Department, Lemars Police Department, and the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office.

Their team finished in 1st place with K9 Gus scoring 198 out of a possible 200 points. Great Job! Keep up the good work! 😀

Congrats to Deputy Martinez and Rocky

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office is proud to announce that Deputy Martinez and his K-9 partner, Rocky, successfully passed the 2026 K-9 Narcotics Certification Trials held in Burlington. The team also earned a 2nd place finish in vehicle sniffs. Please join us in congratulating them on this outstanding achievement!

This annual certification event brings together K-9 teams from across the state to evaluate their skills in controlled, real-world scenarios. Testing includes exterior vehicle sniffs and building searches—both critical components of effective narcotics detection.

Sheriff Huizenga said, “Deputy Martinez and K-9 Rocky are a valuable asset to the Sheriff’s Office and the communities we serve. Their continued training, dedication, and performance play an important role in our efforts to combat illegal drug activity and protect public safety. We are proud of the work they do each day.”
