Paid a contractor thousands of dollars only to be left with unfinished or poorly done work?

If you’re having problems with a contractor, one of the first things you should check is whether they’re properly licensed.

In Georgia, a contractor who doesn’t have the required license generally can’t force you to pay under the contract or place a lien on your home for their work.

If you’ve already paid for work that wasn’t completed or was done incorrectly, you may have legal options.

Most homeowners don't check a contractor’s license until something goes wrong.
