October is Estate Planning Awareness Month. If you have nothing in place, you do not need a finished plan this month. You need one document.
Most people we meet are not avoiding estate planning because they do not care. They are avoiding it because it feels like a project with no obvious first step, and because every version of the conversation they have had so far started with a form.
So here is the smaller version. Pick the one document that would matter most if something happened next week, and sign that. For a lot of Georgia families that is a financial power of attorney, because it is the document that lets someone pay the bills and talk to the bank while you are still here. For others it is an advance directive, which names who speaks for you about medical care. Either one is a real plan. Neither one takes a month.
