We understand that going through a divorce, modification, or any Family Law matter can be a difficult and challenging time and we provide legal expertise, attention and guidance for our clients. We work closely with our clients to focus on b

oth short-term and long-term goals while explaining realistic expectations within the bounds of the law. We handle all matters in Family Law including contested divorce, uncontested divorce, legal separation, prenuptial/postnuptial agreements, alimony, child custody, parenting plans, and child support and are familiar with issues in high asset divorce cases and divorce cases involving businesses. Emily Yu is also trained and serves as a Guardian Ad Litem and a mediator and believes this training has only strengthened the experiences and skills she brings to the table when serving her clients present and future needs.

👋 Here are SIX ideas to help you get a ✨JUMP START✨ on the new school year to support your child while co-parenting:

1️⃣ Split the costs of school supplies with your co-parent and make sure extras are stashed in each home. 📝

2️⃣ Make arrangements so both parents get an opportunity to wish their students a great first day back! 🥳

3️⃣ Inform the school of any new arrangements that have been made between you and your co-parent. Double-check that the school has all the information they need for all parties involved. 📞

4️⃣ Ensure your child has what they need to be successful at both homes, such as extra supplies, and a plan to get lunches, uniforms, and instruments from one place to another. 🎷

5️⃣ Be on the same team for your child and attend parent-teacher conferences together. This way both parents know how the child is doing in school and consistency is encouraged across families. 🏅

6️⃣ Decide NOW how to handle school closings and emergencies. Create contingency plans so everyone knows what to expect. ✅

June 19, 2021, became the federal holiday known as Juneteenth, a day of recognition, restoration, and celebration. This holiday commemorates the emancipation of slavery in the United States.

I want to take the time today to recognize history, and celebrate the freedoms our African American communities have fought (and are still fighting) for. I see you and will continue to fight for what is right.

School’s out for summer! The kids are excited… are you panicking?? I know that I am thinking “What do I do with them all summer?!”

Yu Family Law began 7 years ago today!

This year, I look back on when I started the firm. My daughter was just 6 months old (tells you I’m crazy and bold and ready to take it on right? 🤪). Every year that June 1st comes around, it’s a reminder of my work successes and trials won💪, but also that another year of growth and life has passed.
I am so grateful for those who continue to teach and support me as I grow. Thank you to my mentors, my clients, and my family. I am so proud of my achievements as an attorney and parent, and I look forward to seeing what the future holds for Yu Family Law!
