I’d like to say I’ve been enjoying the weather lately, but it’s the typical Georgia spring where I’m baking one minute and hiding from a cold rain the next. And for some reason that I have yet to figure out, the squirrels don’t appreciate it when I seek shelter in their trees.

I thought they were storing those acorns for food, not for projectiles. At this rate, I might need a good combination real estate and personal injury attorney. Thankfully, I know a few good lawyers.

In honor of St. Patrick’s Day and everything blooming this month, I thought I’d try to compose a limerick.

There once was a bird so serene,
A hawk who flew above the scene.
When along came March
Just south of the Arch
And his world again finally turned green.

This is that special time of year when we take a moment to appreciate those we love. Some people celebrate with flowers, candy, jewelry. All sorts of things like that.

This is also the time of year when we are more open with our feelings and open up our hearts to the world around us.

With that in mind, I have to confess something. I love Uga. Just look at those jowls. How can you not love that slobbery face?

I just wish I could give him a chocolate heart for Valentine’s Day. Maybe a nice rawhide?

I tried to drop in and check out some books from the law library the other day, but apparently my lack of student I.D. was a problem for them. They also have a thing about turning the pages with talons and a beak, apparently.

So, I guess I’ll just sit out here and watch. If anyone feels like dropping a law review or journal by my tree, that would be greatly appreciated.

‘Twas the long break of winter, when all through my world,
Not a student was stirring, just a bunch of wild squirrels.

All the Law Dawgs were gone, resting up for next year,
But don’t all y’all worry, because I’m still right here.

With nobody around, neither Santa nor Krampus,
It looks like the Law Hawk has run of the campus!

Don’t mind me. Just your friendly neighborhood Law Hawk watching over campus now that everyone is back. You just might be one of the fortunate few to catch a glimpse of me if you keep your eagle eyes trained on the trees above North Campus.

(I never liked that phrase. Why do eagles get all the hype? Forgive me for being a little too hawkish about avian idioms.)
