You’ve been waiting for an opening date, and HERE IT IS!

Hold onto your spoons, Madison! Cuppa Yo officially swings open its doors on Saturday, November 1st!

This will be the very first Cuppa Yo in the entire state of Alabama, located in the Publix shopping center on County Line Road. The shop will sit right alongside favorites like Five Below and Sakura.

Two more Alabama locations are already in the works, too! But for now, Madison gets the honor of being first.

Rows of self-serve frozen yogurt machines will line the wall, offering a rotating selection of flavors. November’s special will be a swirl called “S’more to Be Grateful For”. One can imagine how great this seasonal flavor will be! Another special flavor will be the cold brew gelato that can be swirled with the salted caramel pretzel frozen yogurt. Yum!

For those who skip dairy, options such as almond and coconut milk will be available. Every cup of yogurt is made with real ingredients (no artificial colors or flavors!) and even includes probiotics for an extra “good for you” punch.

The real joy can be found in the mounds and mounds of toppings, though, so get ready to pile your frozen yogurt with all of the good stuff!

Owners Tony and Katie Caldwell are quick to share their excitement about pouring into and mentoring teens who take a job at Cuppa Yo. They want teen employees to learn what it means to show up on time, take pride in their work, and smile when someone walks through the door.

Tony and Katie, along with their daughter Savannah, have been part of our community since 2022, when Tony retired after more than 20 years in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Not long after settling in Madison, they noticed something missing: a self-serve frozen yogurt shop. They found themselves driving to surrounding communities to enjoy their family’s favorite sweet treat and soon realized they felt called to fill the gap in Madison.

That’s when the idea of bringing Cuppa Yo, a beloved frozen yogurt shop founded in Oregon, came into focus.

After many months of planning and hard work, Cuppa Yo will soon open, offering guests a space to unwind and enjoy with a favorite treat in hand.

Limestone County has been named the fastest-growing county in the state of Alabama, according to newly released data from the U.S. Census Bureau.

The county experienced a population increase of 4,139 residents from July 1, 2023, to July 1, 2024, a 3.6% growth rate. Over the past four years, Limestone County has seen an impressive population surge of 15,381 new residents, marking a 14.9% increase since 2020.

The data also reveals that Limestone County ranks as the tenth most populous county in Alabama.

The Huntsville metro area, including the rapidly expanding Madison and Limestone counties, ranked as the 15th fastest-growing metro in the nation.

Bethany Shockney, President & CEO of the Limestone County Economic Development Association, attributed this growth to the area’s economic vitality and strategic location.

“Limestone County continues to be a prime destination for businesses and families alike. Our strong job market, excellent quality of life, and strategic investments in infrastructure make this county a top choice for those looking to relocate.”

Athens-Limestone County Chamber of Commerce President & CEO Pammie Jimmar emphasized the role of the local business community in attracting new residents.

“Our small businesses are the heartbeat of this county, creating jobs and opportunities that draw people here. The economic momentum we are seeing is a testament to the hardworking entrepreneurs and business leaders who make Limestone County a great place to live, work, and play.”

Tere Richardson, Executive Director of Athens Main Street, highlighted the county vibrant downtown and historic charm as key factors in its appeal.

“People want to live in communities with character, where they can walk to restaurants, shops, and events. Limestone County offers that and more, with its rich history, welcoming atmosphere, and dynamic local culture. Our growth reflects the investment and passion of those who call this place home.”

Limestone County, Ala. - Commission Chairman Collin Daly underscored the importance of infrastructure and public services in managing the county’s rapid expansion.

“As our county continues to grow, we remain focused on ensuring that our infrastructure, schools, and public services keep pace with the needs of our residents.”
