Capua Law is excited to announce that Scott Riddell has joined Capua Law as a Senior Attorney. Scott brings over 10 years of legal experience to Capua Law. Originally from Houston, Texas, he attended UNC-Chapel Hill for undergrad, majoring in Philosophy. After serving in the Navy for six years both as enlisted and an officer, Scott attended law school at the Charleston School of Law, graduating magna cm laude in 2016. While in law school, he was on law review and the moot court team and was a legal writing teaching fellow. Scott has litigated civil matters for plaintiffs and defendants, as well as probate matters. He began his legal career practicing in South Carolina but moved to the Asheville area with his family in 2024 continuing his career as a solo practitioner before joining Capua Law in 2026. In his free time, Scott likes to spend time with his family, garden, and write music.

Capua Law is excited to announce that Jennifer "Jen" Stephenson has joined Capua Law as a Legal Assistant/Paralegal bringing with her a wealth of experience in the construction industry. She earned her Associates of Fine Art in Interior Design from Brooks College and then went on to earn a Bachelors of Fine Art in Interior Design at American Intercontinental University in 2005.

Jen has spent the last 20 years of career utilizing her talents by working for various construction and contractor companies. Most recently she was a Project Manager Assistant at a construction company where her responsibilities included supporting project managers and construction managers in planning, coordinating, and executing construction projects from pre-construction through final closeout. She also served as the central communicator between office management and subcontractors to ensure projects were completed on time and within budget by categorizing all materials, labor and other jobs costs and recording change orders and cost monitoring based on project budgets.

Jen went on to earn a degree in Paralegal Technology from Central Piedmont Community College and also became a North Carolina State Bar Certified Paralegal in 2015.

The blending of Jen's construction experience of over 20 years, along with her Paralegal knowledge and Certification, makes her a great asset to Capua Law and our clients.

Capua Law is excited to announce that Michael Huddle has joined our firm as a Paralegal with over 10 years of experience managing high-volume civil litigation, family law, and criminal defense caseloads.

In 2022, Michael became a North Carolina State Bar Certified Paralegal. He has also been a North Carolina Notary Public since 2016 and earned his Google AI Professional Certificate in 2026.

In his spare time, Michael is an avid harpist and serves as a Volunteer Harp Musician at Agape Care Group where he provides therapeutic harp music for hospice patients and families in end-of-life care settings. He is also a volunteer at Rutherford Housing Partnership where he assists with accessibility and housing repair projects for underserved community members.

Capua Law is excited to announce that Attorney Avi Koren has joined our firm. Avi comes to Capua Law from Yale Haymond Law, PLLC in Charlotte, NC where he managed a caseload of civil litigation and pre-litigation matters from start to finish, including business and construction disputes, employment matters, and personal injury cases. Prior to that, Avi served at Hedrick Gardner Kincheloe & Garofalo, LLP, also located in Charlotte.

Originally from Greensboro, NC, Avi completed his undergraduate studies at Appalachian State University in Boone, NC and went on to earn his JD degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Law.

In his spare time, Avi is an avid photographer, hiker/backpacker and musician.

Capua Law is honored to support Jazz for Justice as a sponsor this year. The event will be held this evening, Thursday, May 28 at Highland Brewing Company Event Center.

Proceeds from Jazz for Justice support Pisgah Legal Services, a non-profit providing free civil legal aid, anti-poverty advocacy, and access to health care to people with low incomes in Western North Carolina. In 2024, they served over 25,000 people across the WNC mountain region.
