Another closing day — and this one was especially rewarding!

This journey actually began before Hurricane Helene, when I started working with a first-time homebuyer looking for the right place to call home. Then life changed, priorities changed, and the home search needed to pause.

And that was perfectly understandable.

One thing I’ve always believed about real estate is that my job isn’t to pressure someone into buying a house. It’s to be there when they’re ready, help them understand their options, and guide them through the process until we find the property that truly feels right.

Eventually, the timing was right to start again — and today we closed on a beautiful home with incredible mountain views.

Whether someone’s dream is a first home, a mountain cabin, a piece of land, or something completely different, I genuinely love helping people get there.

There are easier ways to make a living, but I can’t think of many that give you days quite like this one. Congratulations to my buyer on an exciting new chapter! 🎉

I saw this interesting PBS story last night and thought it was worth sharing. It takes a look at the growing trend of single women becoming homeowners and explores some of the reasons behind it.

One thing that caught my attention was the statistic they mention at the end involving Asheville, so be sure to watch all the way through!

This one is truly something else!

Today my buyers closed on over 100 acres here in Western North Carolina

The property itself is extraordinary:
• A mountain stream running beside the cabin
• A private stocked fishing pond
• Trails winding throughout the land
• Incredible privacy - 3 miles down a private road
• And direct access into thousands and thousands of acres of National Forest land

You can literally hike straight off the property and explore for days.

But the cabin may be the most incredible part of all.

In the early 1990s, someone carefully dismantled and relocated two separate Virginia log cabins — both already more than 150 years old at the time — and painstakingly reconstructed them together into one extraordinary place here in this cove.

What makes this one even more rewarding for me is that I worked with these buyers for about a year before we found the right fit. We looked at a variety of properties, explored different options, and stayed patient until the right opportunity came along. This one also involved owner financing, which added another layer of creativity and negotiation to the process.

At the end of the day, every client’s dream looks a little different.

Sometimes it’s a starter home.
Sometimes it’s a mountain getaway, or the land to build one on.
And sometimes it’s a once-in-a-lifetime property hidden deep in the NC mountains.

Two closings this week….. on the same mountain.

A fully furnished log cabin on 10 private acres with a deck, hot tub, and a trout stream on the property.

20+ acres of land reaching the mountaintop with 360° long range views and frontage on the same trout stream.

The land buyer and I spent over six months looking at properties until we found the one that checked all the boxes.

The cabin buyer originally set out to purchase land - but when she mentioned selling a rental, I connected her with a 1031 exchange professional. That opened the door to a better strategy, and ultimately the right property, saving her a significance amount of taxes.

Different paths. Same result – exactly what each client was hoping for.

There are a lot more mountains in WNC……. And everyone everyone’s version looks a little different.
