While we are sad to say goodbye, we are grateful for her help this summer and happy to have been able to introduce her to the modern practice of law. Today we celebrate Juneteenth! Despite the Emancipation Proclamation being announced in 1863, it took more than two years before slavery officially ended on June 19, 1865.

On this day we remember what happened, celebrate and reflect on how far we’ve come—and recommit to the important work that lies ahead. At RBS Law, we stand for equality, equity, justice, and the ongoing fight for civil rights. 💼⚖️

If you want to celebrate locally on Saturday June 20 there is a Juneteenth Music Festival in Denver! It’s free and there is Live music on multiple stages, 200+ vendors, food, art, kids’ activities and Denver’s longest-running parade, all in the historic Five Points neighborhood along Welton Street. Five Points, known as the “Harlem of the West,” has hosted Juneteenth celebrations since the 1950s.

The Colorado Bar Association Leadership Training (COBALT) Class of 2026 is honored to partner with Sleep in Heavenly Peace on a service project dedicated to ensuring that every child has a safe and comfortable place to sleep. RBS Law's associate attorney, Kaleigh Thacker, is a member of the current COBALT cohort. Kaleigh and COBALT give a big thank you to all of the generous donors! As of June 11, 2026, COBALT has raised $5,902.70 of their $10,000 goal! You can support COBALT and Sleep in Heavenly Peace by donating funds or by donating your time and energy to help build beds for children in our community!
