While STRs may be viewed negatively by many, the Hwy 4 Corridor relies on the tourism and economic impact of STRs (TOT, home values, support of local businesses, etc.). The restrictions or banning of STRs does NOT guarantee an increase of affordable housing or affordable fulltime rentals to support our infrastructure. Please read and make your own decision. Hear Ye! Hear Ye! Please read! Directly affects Short Term Rentals throughout the county. Calaveras County Planning Department has filed a "Notice of Intent to Adopt a Negative Declaration" dated August 14, 2024. The proposed project is for the adoption of a STR Ordinance that would apply to all short-term vacation rentals located in the unincorporated portion of Calaveras County. Literally, all of the county except Angels Camp. Public review period is from August 14, 2024 thru September 13, 2024. Your voice needs to be heard! For or Against. The adoption of this extremely restrictive Ordinance will govern the future of our area. It should be more general in content in order to allow subdivisions to define their more restrictive regulations.
