A District of Columbia judge has approved a class action settlement brought on behalf of construction workers who alleged that they were not paid all the wages they were owed. Defendants in the case paid a total of $461,000 for the benefit of the 52 workers who are members of the class. These workers will be paid, on average, $8,698.11. On November 20, 2024, the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled in favor of Matt Kaplan's appellate client, David Chang. The court vacated Mr. Chang's criminal sentence and remanded the case back to the district court for resentencing. This was Mr. Kaplan's second appellate victory in this case. Initially, Mr. Chang, who had pled guilty to a serious federal felony, was sentenced to 72 months’ imprisonment and four years’ supervised release. ...
