Nixon & Vanderhye P.C., a leading Washington, D.C. area intellectual property law firm, seeks a detail-oriented patent agent with experience preparing and prosecuting mechanical-related patent applications to work in its Arlington, VA office.

Our clients regularly challenge us to provide creative, forward-thinking solutions to their complex IP issues, while improving efficiency and supporting their core business. We are seeking candidates that are driven to these goals and able to collaborate with a broader team of attorneys, agents, and support staff to assist our clients.

The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a similar discipline, as well as excellent writing and analytical skills. Experience drafting patent applications for filing in the U.S. and elsewhere is highly desirable. Prosecution or technical experience related to medical devices and/or textiles a plus. The successful candidate will also be fluent in all manner of detailed mechanical and design speak, e.g., cross sections, elevation views, materials science, dynamic movement, manufacturing processes, etc. Qualified candidates will be highly motivated, capable of working independently, and have 5+ years of experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications, preferably open to occasional travel. USPTO registration is also required.

Experienced individual needed for patent drawings in intellectual property law firm. Experience with Auto CAD, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop required. Familiarity with 3D Auto CAD Preferred.
