Nursing homes provide essential care for many. There are many fine nursing facilities, but there are also many substandard facilities where abuse, mistreatment and failure to provide your loved ones with appropriate care is an everyday experience. These substandard facilities can only be forced to change by passing and enforcing new laws protecting the residents, and by holding the facility accountable where they have neglected your loved ones. Support nursing home reform legislation, and if a loved one has been neglected, call (847)253-7500 to get a consultation on what you can do to prevent it happening again.

For far too long, nursing home residents have been victims of an industry with little accountability to keep American seniors safe and protected. COVID-19 has laid bare the challenges in America’s nursing homes, with over 200,000 residents and staff dying from COVID-19. That’s why in his State o...

Elder Law & Estate Planning Attorneys of Illinois Attorney James C. Siebert has again been named a Leading Lawyers in Elder Law for 2022. Leading Lawyers, an organization that’s a division of Law Bulletin Media, sets themselves apart from other similar award organizations because of how the list of winners is formed. Leading Lawyers surveys Illinois lawyers and asks, “If a family member or friend needed legal help and you couldn’t take the case, to whom would you refer them?” To maintain the quality and credibility of the survey, lawyers may not nominate themselves or anyone at their law firm. The group limits the total number of Leading Lawyers in a given state to less than five percent of all lawyers licensed to practice law in that state.

Medicare's Open Enrollment Period is here!

Medicare’s open enrollment period is Oct. 15 to Dec. 7 — and it’s an important deadline for beneficiaries to remember.

Open enrollment is the time in which current Medicare beneficiaries can make any changes to their coverage, such as adding or dropping a plan. It’s a time when people can also switch to Medicare Advantage, which is Medicare-approved health insurance provided by a private company, or choose between Medicare Advantage and a supplement plan. When beneficiaries make no changes, their current elections continue into the following year. .

Medicare.gov released a guide, called “Medicare & You,” to help Americans sift through coverage options and available plans across the country in 2022.https://www.medicare.gov/Pubs/pdf/10050-Medicare-and-You.pdf

Think about what benefits matter to you and find a Medicare plan that fits your needs. Visit https://www.medicare.gov/ through December 7 to compare plans and make any changes. If you decide to change plans, your new coverage will start January 1.
