Building Dreams Through Workforce-Paid Internships

A young woman, aged 22, came to the Workforce Solutions Panhandle office seeking support through the Youth Training Services (18-24) program. Her goal was clear—to become a social worker and help children. Having been in and out of foster care since the age of two, she has a deep personal connection to her career aspirations. She is determined to attend college to achieve this dream and make a difference in the lives of children.

The Youth Training Services staff identified a workforce-paid internship for her at Will Rogers Children’s Learning Center. This program provided her with hands-on experience working with children and insight into the skills and responsibilities required in social work. Collaborations between organizations, such as the partnership between Will Rogers Children’s Learning Center and Workforce Solutions Panhandle, are instrumental in creating pathways for individuals to gain career-related experience.

The Youth Training Services program offers workforce-paid internships to young adults ages 18-24, providing practical experience in various fields while enhancing skills and building confidence. These internships bridge the gap between education and employment by equipping participants with the tools necessary for success. In this case, the placement aligned perfectly with the customer’s passion for working with children, allowing her to gain valuable insight and prepare for her future studies in social work.

This program is open to other young adults who are looking to gain experience in a variety of industries. By connecting with Workforce Solutions Panhandle, participants can access training, career guidance, and placements tailored to their goals. Youth Training Services helps young individuals build a strong foundation for their careers while contributing to the local workforce.

To participate in a workforce-paid internship through Youth Training Services, individuals can contact Workforce Solutions Panhandle to learn more about eligibility requirements and available opportunities. With support and guidance, young adults can gain meaningful experience, like this aspiring social worker, and move closer to achieving their professional goals.
