In Texas, it is considered a crime to flee from a police officer who is trying to arrest you. This can be done either on foot or in a vehicle. If you are caught evading arrest, you may be charged with a misdemeanor or felony depending on the circumstances. Misdemeanor evading arrest is punishable by up to one year in jail and a fine of up to $4000. Felony evading arrest is punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a fine up to $10,000. Additionally, if you are convicted of evading arrest, your driver's license could be suspended.

What is the difference in probation and parole? Probation is a form of supervision that is imposed on an offender after they have been convicted of a crime. Parole is a form of early release from prison that is granted to an offender who has served a portion of their sentence. Both probation and parole come with certain conditions that must be met, and violators can be returned to prison. Even though probation is often seen as a less serious sentence, it can still be a significant burden resulting in restrictions on travel, employment, etc. There is also a monthly fee to be on probation. Parole is usually only granted to offenders who are considered low-risk, and who have demonstrated good behavior while in prison. Parolees are typically required to meeting with their parole officer on a regular basis and to comply with any conditions of their release.
