If you have a baby who has been injured or killed in one of these products, please call me. I have information you need.

Today marks the one-year anniversary of the Fisher-Price Rock ‘n Play sleeper recall. Thirty-two infant deaths were originally reported due to the Rock ‘n Play, and a recent Consumer Reports study found an additional 19 deaths from the product. Since the recall, there has been progress towards g...

We are making great progress toward infant sleep safety. This has been quite the journey for me. After finding my grandson, Asher, blue and lifeless in the Fisher-Price Rock 'n Play Infant Sleeper and speaking with the manufacturer to alert them, I became keenly aware that something was terribly wrong. I knew he was badly positioned when I found him and thankfully he revived. Though I could not find detailed information on the Safer Products website (due to a grave problem in the law that does not allow publication of the make or model without manufacturer approval), as an attorney, this began the incredible and arduous task of discovering the magnitude of the problem of inclined sleep. I was given the opportunity to address the ASTM Standard Committee on inclined sleep, which, together with the efforts of Consumer Reports, spearheaded the revision of that standard to propose eliminating the word "inclined" from the standard. The CPSC conducted their own study, which clearly indicates that no inclined product that was examined was safe for infant sleep. The Safe Sleep Act has now passed the House and on its way to the Senate. I now have the honor of representing the parents of a deceased infant who died in the Fisher-Price Rock 'n Play SnugaMonkey Sleeper. Their courage and fortitude is a true testament to the power of individuals to make a difference in this world. Though most of these products have been recalled, many people do not know of the recall and try to gift or loan them to others. If you are a new parent, please do not accept one of these dangerous products into your home.

KID had the pleasure of interviewing Congressman Tony Cárdenas (D-CA-29) about children’s product safety issues and Congress’s role in keeping children safe. Rep. Cárdenas, a grandfather, recently introduced The Safe Sleep for Babies Act of 2019 (H.R.3172). This bill would ban infant inclined ...

The passage in the House Committee on Energy and Commerce of the Safe Sleep for Babies Act of 2019 is a great victory for infant sleep safety! Next up, House Full Committee! This Act is sponsored by Rep. Cardenas and would ban the sale of inclined sleepers, such as the recently recalled Fisher Price Rock n' Play. Work continues to be done to make sure more infant lives are saved from inclined sleepers.

Today marks an important victory for KID, consumer advocates, and families with the passage of three key child product safety bills in the House Committee on Energy and Commerce. The bills will now be sent to the full House. The Stop Tip-overs of Unstable, Risky Dressers on Youth Act, or STURDY A

I’ve Been Where You Are

After walking in your shoes, I made a change in my practice and began representing severely injured clients in a different way – because I strongly believe that the injured party should be receiving the vast majority of the money that is paid out for their injury. You owe it to yourself to come in for a free consult concerning your injury. I’ll work diligently to have the process go as quickly as it can for you in order to reduce the added stress that I know all too well happens when an injury case drags on and on.

I am in my 20th year of law practice, helping people with life’s biggest challenges. I am uniquely qualified for this field. As a litigator, certified mediator and registered arbitrator, I know the ins and outs of negotiating and seeing to it that my clients’ needs are met. I practiced in Atlanta in all of the major courts for my first 20 years, and now, I am proud to be a South Carolinian with offices in the Upstate. My first college field of study was a medical one, where I was intricately involved with severely injured or ill patients. I then went on to obtain a degree in finance and business, then my doctorate in law. In Georgia, I made new law at the Supreme Court level. The legal field excites me because I can help people more than anything else. That is what I want to do for you and that is what you deserve.

I am sorry for what you have suffered, and from experience, I can tell you that this too shall pass. There are brighter days ahead. Please call or contact me to discuss your situation. While I cannot take every case, I will give you an honest and thorough evaluation.
