This morning we were proud to contribute $1000 of water, Gatorade, trail mix, jerky, snacks, and Chapstick for the hard working linemen of Alpena Power Company to take with them for some nourishment out in the field as they battle to restore power to our area. We’re very proud and excited to support the Besser Museum for Northeast Michigan with a $1,000 donation for the new Discover Northeast Michigan History exhibit! The new state-of-the-art exhibit “from the Big Bang to Big Lumber” will be an amazing family attraction for our community, and is already receiving high praise for its planned original research content on the Anishinaabe peoples native to our area.

CONGRATULATIONS to our long-time office manager and legal assistant Pat Hiske, who was recently presented with a special tribute from the State of Michigan by State Representative Cam Cavitt, recognizing her *66 YEARS* of service to our law firm.

Pat started with us as a secretary for Donald K. Gillard in 1957, and she's been like another member of all of our families.

We're not sure if Pat's 66 years is a world record, but we're certain that no one else will ever come close to matching the number of times her signature has been recorded in Alpena County's land title records.

We're a little late on this, but CONGRATULATIONS to our partner Daniel J. Florip for being selected as a Super Lawyers "Rising Star" for 2020. The Rising Star selection is limited to a small number of attorneys from each state, and is based on 12 indicators including peer recognition and professional achievement in legal practice.

Dan's practice focuses on estate planning, probate and trust administration, real estate, contracts, and business. In November he completed his 14th year of legal practice. Dan has completed certificates in Probate & Estate Planning from the Institute of Continuing Legal Education, and just finished eight years of representing Michigan's 26th Circuit in the State Bar of Michigan's Representative Assembly.
