Say your son goes off to college in just a couple of months… he gets into a very serious car accident, and is sent to the ER.

Like any parent, you’re scared and want answers…but the hospital can’t give you any information.

Why?

👉 If you don’t have the right documentation, and your child is unable to give authorization
themselves, then you’re not privy to your adult child’s information.

Avoid this scary situation by having your college-aged children fill these out:
✅ HIPAA authorization
✅ Medical power of attorney
✅ Durable power of attorney

This comes up more often than you’d think.

A lot of adult children assume they have the right to review a parent’s estate planning documents, especially if big changes are being made.

But unless the parent chooses to share it? The answer is usually no. 😅

A will is considered private while someone is alive and competent to make their own decisions.🤷🏻

Which means some families don’t find out what’s in the will until after a loved one passes away.
