When I decided to apply for the vacancy in the office of Council President, I reached out to every Republican elected official I could quickly think of (and whose cell number I had) that could attest to having worked with me either on a campaign or on a governmental issue.

This morning I received this letter from my friend Lisa Nelligan who serves on the Perry Township Board of Trustees. We are working through quite a mess over in Perry, but it has been a pleasure to work with and for the Board of Trustees. I genuinely enjoy government work, and would love the opportunity to bring my experience to the table as your next Council President here at home in Alliance.

At 19 years old, I was a college student when I first entered politics and ran for Alliance City Council. Despite leading the ticket in four consecutive elections and really meaningful work, life took me on a detour and I exited the political arena to focus on family in 2018. Since then I have been practicing law across Northeast Ohio with great success, have two beautiful daughters growing up quickly, and in 2026 I feel an undeniable pull back to public service.

Recently, a vacancy was created with the resignation of our Council President Art Garnes. After serious consideration, I delivered my resume and a Letter of Intent to the Chairman of the Stark County Republican Party; my mentor Janet Weir Creighton. I believe my experience with city government, extensive litigation-focused law practice, and the network of personal and professional relationships I’ve maintained and built upon (check out my endorsements!) make me the clear choice to lead Alliance City Council as the next Council President.

This position would allow me to maintain my existing law practice and clients, while also serving the City of Alliance. It’s my ideal blend of public and private work, and I hope to have the City of Alliance’s support when I make my pitch to the 15 members of Alliance’s Republican Central Committee who make this decision next Monday evening August 10th. It would be my honor to follow in the footsteps of my former City Council colleague, President Garnes.

In the meantime, I’ll see you all at the festival! ❤️

My favorite event of the Greater Alliance Carnation Festival! Thanks to my friend Professor Kevin Kern (he and his lovely wife Natalie are the stars of Shakespeare at the Castle!), I was invited to co-host Channel 1022: Alliance's LIVE broadcast of the parade next Saturday the 8th. I just hope my festival and community knowledge can keep up with Kevin's quick wit. If you are not planning on coming to the parade in person, check out our broadcast!

Channel 1022: Alliance is partnering with University of Mount Union to bring you the FREE livestream of the 2026 Greater Alliance Carnation Festival Grand Parade on Saturday, August 8th, at 11am. Parade commentators for this year are Kevin Kern and Julie Jakmides! Our broadcast booth will be located on campus between Orwick Court and the Peterson Field House.

My daughters had the best time at Safety Town at The Alliance Commons the last two days. It took me right back to my days at Carnation Careful City (if you know, you know!) and I am so glad this program exists for the youth in Alliance. Well done to ALL the partners who made this happen and the lovely volunteers who took care of all the kiddos!

It is a privilege to advocate on behalf of the Bezon family with respect to what happened to their sweet Oliver. This situation was entirely avoidable and absolutely inexcusable negligence. We will pursue this all the way.

It’s a privilege to represent Ken & Martha as victims in this case, and in the civil case we will be filing next week. We will get justice for Zeb and hold the monster who did this accountable.
