🇺🇸 America’s largest law firm fighting bad HOAs.
500+ five-star reviews.
Featured in WSJ, Forbes, and Inc. Magazine.

An Amazon best-selling book.
And now — our 20th year.

It started with a simple belief: homeowners deserve someone willing to stand beside them when the system feels impossible to navigate.

What makes this milestone meaningful isn’t the numbers or the headlines — it’s the people behind it. Our team has poured an incredible amount of energy, heart, and relentless work into serving clients, pushing for accountability, and continuing to raise the standard every year.

And of course, none of it exists without the trust of our clients, the support of our listeners and readers, and everyone who has been part of this journey.

Twenty years in — and it still feels like we’re just getting started.

Here’s to the next chapter.

500 five-star reviews! Wow.

We’re grateful. Truly, deeply grateful.

But this milestone isn’t about a number. It’s about the people behind it.

It’s the paralegal who stays late to make sure nothing falls through the cracks. The attorney who makes one more call because they know how much it matters. The intake specialist who listens — truly listens — when someone reaches out on one of their hardest days.

They carry the empathy. They carry the fight. They carry this firm.

You don’t earn 500 five-star reviews because of a podcast, a YouTube video, or a book. You earn them because of people who genuinely care — people who give everything they have to every client they serve.

Our team is incredibly talented, relentless, compassionate, and deeply committed to our clients. Many of them will never stand in the spotlight or even meet the clients whose lives they impact, yet they are the backbone of this firm. We’re fortunate to work alongside a group of truly exceptional individuals.

And to our clients: thank you for trusting us with your cases. We know that making that call is rarely easy. More often than not, it comes after weeks, months, or even years of stress, uncertainty, and frustration. That trust is something we will never take lightly.

"If it's not in writing, it didn't happen."

Your board president verbally approves your project. Two weeks later? Never happened. No record. No proof. Your word against theirs.

Here’s the move: write back immediately 👇

“This confirms our conversation on [date]. If this is inaccurate, please respond in writing.”

If they don’t respond — that silence becomes your evidence.

This is one step in the STRIKE method — a structured framework we built for homeowners dealing with selective enforcement, targeting, and boards that play favorites.

In the full episode, we break down:
→ The two forms of selective enforcement
→ Using the STRIKE method to resolve a selective enforcement issue on your own
→ When it’s time to get an attorney

We understand what our clients are dealing with—and we don’t take it lightly.

If opposing attorneys walked in and saw this crew… breakfast might suddenly not sound so good.

Celebrating 20 Years of Advocacy: Michele Hobby
Today, we’re proud to recognize Michele Hobby on her 20-year milestone as an attorney.

For two decades, Michele has stood in the arena—building cases that hold up under pressure, trying hundreds of matters, and mastering what it takes to win where it counts. Her background as a prosecutor and her experience working within the federal court system give her a rare, strategic perspective on how cases are evaluated—and how to position them for impact.

But what truly defines Michele is who she chooses to fight for.

She represents homeowners.

In Florida HOA and condominium disputes, Michele has seen the patterns—boards that overreach, management companies that delay, and processes that wear people down. She understands the frustration, the uncertainty, and the imbalance of power homeowners often face.

And she doesn’t accept it.

Michele brings clarity where there’s confusion, strategy where there’s chaos, and precision where it matters most. Whether resolving disputes efficiently or litigating when necessary, she is relentless in her pursuit of accountability.

Because to Michele, a home isn’t just property—it’s personal.
And when that’s threatened, she shows up ready to protect it.

Congratulations, Michele, on 20 years of exceptional advocacy. We’re proud to have you on the front lines empowering homeowners.

Honored. Grateful. And clear on what this means.

Bad HOA has been awarded Legal Podcast of the Year (2025) by the International Marketing Association — a network built around connecting influential minds, elevating thought leadership, and shaping the conversations that drive real-world change.

That matters.

IMA doesn’t just recognize content — they recognize impact. This is a room filled with the people quietly shaping industries, capital flows, and the direction of what comes next. Being recognized in that environment carries real weight.

That’s exactly what Bad HOA was built to do.

This isn’t just about homeowners.
It’s about educating decision-makers, exposing systemic issues, and pushing forward a long-overdue conversation around accountability and governance.

HOA reform isn’t fringe.
It’s entering the room.

This recognition belongs to our team — and to every homeowner who has refused to accept the status quo.

We’re not just telling stories.
We’re helping shape what comes next.

When major news outlets like the Los Angeles Times are covering some of the most important homeowner issues in the country, they don’t guess—they go to the source.

We’re proud to see our firm featured in this powerful piece by Jack Flemming highlighting a $23,000 HOA special assessment imposed on fire-impacted homeowners—an issue that continues to raise serious questions about fairness, accountability, and overreach.

This recognition isn’t about one quote—it reflects the work being done across our entire team at LS Carlson Law. Day in and day out, we’re at the forefront of homeowner advocacy, helping clients push back when HOAs cross the line.

This is what leadership in this space looks like.

Jeff Kominsky is back on the Bad HOA podcast. LS Carlson Law's Managing Partner in Florida talking about the recent laws that have changed that homeowners need to know about — like this clip — and one proposed this year in 2026 that has the entire industry watching. After our “nuclear option” episode dropped, the reaction was exactly what you’d expect: spicy. Passionate. And full of homeowners who are completely done with their boards and ready to burn the whole thing down.

We get it. Because we see this play out every single day.

When a board starts abusing its authority, the first instinct is simple: scrap the whole system.

And honestly, we’re not here to talk anyone out of being angry.

Your home is supposed to be the place you decompress. Where your family lives. Where you’ve invested your money, your time, and a piece of your life. When that starts feeling like a battleground — harassment, selective enforcement, ignored complaints, a board that’s gotten far too comfortable with its authority — it stops feeling like home.

That anger? Completely justified.

It’s natural to start thinking the entire HOA structure is the problem. And when your home feels under attack, that’s not an unreasonable place to land. But here’s the hard truth:

HOAs are extremely difficult to dissolve.

Pouring your energy into that fight usually means the real problems keep getting worse while nothing actually changes.

You deserve better than that.

After nearly two decades of fighting these battles, we’ve seen a consistent pattern:
In most HOA disputes, the damage isn’t caused by the structure itself.

It’s caused by the people running it.

And unlike the structure, the people can be changed.

HOAs may have significant power.
But homeowners have power too.

Most people just don’t know it — or how to use it. And bad boards are very comfortable keeping that knowledge gap exactly where it is.

That’s exactly what we break down in the latest episode.
