Students, staff, and faculty frequently turn to law enforcement officers for guidance on what they should do if confronted with an active shooter event.

Today, our office was proud to partner with the Jim Wells County Sheriff’s Department as Sgt. Chris Zamora and Investigator Robert Vasquez presented the Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE) course to the faculty and staff of the Orange Grove ISD Primary Campus.

We sincerely appreciate the invitation and the opportunity to spend time on your campus discussing this important topic. Preparedness, awareness, and having a plan can make a critical difference during an emergency.

It is with profound sadness that we extend our deepest condolences to Helna Carrera and her family on the passing of her beloved husband.

During this time of tremendous loss, our thoughts and prayers are with her and all who knew and loved him. We hope she finds strength in the support of family, friends, and colleagues, and comfort in the cherished memories they shared.

With heavy hearts, we remember Constable Frank Davila Jr. and his years of dedicated service to our community. His legacy of service and commitment will live on. Rest in peace.

Constable Frank Davila Jr., who took office in January 2025, died Friday while serving Precinct 4 in Jim Wells County.
