Today marked another proud milestone for us at the DTB Mortgage Finance Launch at Emerald Residency - Mutungo Hill
BAKAIMA was recognized and appreciated by both the DTB CEO, Mr. Godfrey Ssebaana, and the Board representative, Ms. Jean Kabugo, for our contribution to Uganda's real estate sector.
Hon. Judith Nabakooba, Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, also commended BAKAIMA and the other leading industry players for our efforts in addressing Uganda's estimated 2.4 million housing deficit. She challenged the top players in the sector to intensify the development of affordable housing products and solutions, noting that nearly 60% of Ugandans still live in unplanned settlements and inadequate housing.
DTB reaffirmed its commitment to the sector, pledging long-term, patient, and affordable mortgage financing at interest rates of approximately 15–20%pa, while Government reiterated its support through Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs), encouraging real estate players like us to work closely with the Ministry in solving Uganda's housing challenge.
This is a strong endorsement of the work we do and a reminder that our mission goes beyond selling land and houses, we are helping shape the future of housing in Uganda.
