🚨 Attention Landlords in Trinidad & Tobago 🚨

There's a NEW tax on rental income that took effect this year — and the registration deadline is May 30, 2026.

It's called the Landlord Business Surcharge, and if you collect rent from ANY property in T&T — residential, commercial, single unit or multi-unit — you are required to register with the BIR.

Here's what you need to know:
✅ 2.5% on the first $20,000/quarter
✅ 3.5% on anything above that
✅ One-time registration fee: TT$2,500
❌ Miss the deadline = TT$1,000 penalty + 15% interest

The surcharge IS creditable against your income tax — so it's not a double tax. But you still have to register.
