🇨🇦 CANADA IMMIGRATION UPDATE 2026

Canada's immigration strategy is changing, and if you're planning to study, work or eventually migrate, these changes are worth paying attention to.

The 2026–2028 Immigration Levels Plan reduces the number of new temporary residents while maintaining permanent resident admissions at approximately 380,000 per year.

At the same time, Canada is placing a stronger emphasis on economic immigration, labour market needs and attracting people with skills and experience that support Canada's economy.

🎓 Students: The target for new international student arrivals is 155,000 in 2026.

👷 Workers: The target for new temporary workers is 230,000 in 2026.

🇨🇦 Permanent residence: The overall target remains 380,000 admissions annually from 2026–2028.

The message for applicants?

Immigration planning needs to be strategic.

Your education, work experience, language ability, finances, career goals and chosen pathway all need to make sense together.
