Att. Dr. Çiğdem Ayözger Öngün was featured on Ekotürk TV’s “Ahu Tanrıkulu ile Gün Ortası”, where the evolving legal, technological, and societal implications of artificial intelligence were discussed.
During the program, it was emphasized that artificial intelligence is no longer limited to generating content, but is increasingly capable of taking autonomous actions, accessing systems, and executing decisions within complex digital environments.
It was highlighted that this transformation fundamentally reshapes the nature of risk — shifting from data-related concerns to action-based risks, where AI-driven decisions may directly result in real-world consequences.
The discussion further addressed how legal responsibility is being redefined in the age of AI.
In her capacity as President of IWF Türkiye and Global Data & AI Co-Chair of IWF, it was also highlighted that the impact of artificial intelligence on gender equality cannot be overlooked. It was underlined that algorithmic bias and data-driven inequalities risk reinforcing existing gender gaps in areas such as employment, finance, and access to opportunities.
It was emphasized that addressing these risks requires not only legal and technical safeguards, but also inclusive leadership, diverse data governance, and a conscious effort to design AI systems that promote fairness rather than replicate historical inequalities.
In the age of AI, governance must go beyond managing data — it must encompass models, decisions, and the actions they trigger, while actively contributing to a more inclusive and balanced society.
