Work Permit
In order to work in Thailand, a person has to legally obtain both a Non-Immigrant Visa Category “B” and a Work Permit.
What is a Work Permit?
A Work permit is a permit for an applicant to work legally in Thailand. An applicant must have a visa type that permits them to apply for a work permit before they are eligible to apply for a work permit.

What are the requirements to be eligible to apply for a work permit?
The requirements of an applicant for applying a work permit.
1. Applicant must have a business registered with company asset of at least 2 million Baht or applicants employed in a company with at least 2 million Baht.
2. The company must have at least 4 Local Thai workers.
3. Applicant not prohibited from entering the Kingdom as provided by the Immigration Act B.E. 2522 (1979).
4. Applicant must not have any criminal record in Thailand and the country of the applicant’s nationality or residence.
5. Applicant must not carry prohibitive diseases including but not limited to Leprosy, Tuberculosis, drug addiction, Elephantiasis, third phase of Syphilis as indicated in the Ministerial Regulation No. 14 B.E. 2535.
What are the documents needed to apply for a Business Visa in Thailand?
The applicants must submit the following relevant documents depending on the purpose of their visit.
1. Passport or travel document with validity of not less than 6 months or 18 months validity period for or the 1 year Non-Immigrant Visa (Multiple-Entry).
2. Recent 3 photograph ( 5 x 6 cm) of the applicant taken within the past 6 months.
3. Evidence of adequate finance (if applicant is the employer)
4. Copy of Departure card
5. Education Degree
6. Resume
7. Transcript
8. Certificates or licenses held by applicant (signed copy)
9. Itinerary of the applications stay. (if have)
10. Marriage Registration
11. Corporate documents of partners/company in Thailand includes submitting the following documents:
1) business registration and business license
2) list of shareholders
3) company profile
4) details of business operation
5) list of foreign workers stating names, nationalities and positions
6) map indicating location of the company
7) balance sheet, statement of Income Tax and Business Tax (Por Ngor Dor 50 and Por Ngor Dor 30 of the latest year)
8) value-added tax registration (Por Por 20)
9) Document indicating the number of foreign tourists (for tourism business only), or document indicating export transactions issued by banks (for export business only).
** Copies of company documents must be signed by Board of Directors and affixed the seal of the company.
** The applicant must sign on each page of the copy.
** Documents in foreign languages must be translated into Thai or English and properly notarized by notary organs or the applicant’s diplomatic/ consular mission.
**All documentation is subjected to the Royal Thai Embassy request, and the Royal Thai Embassy request for more documentation.
What is the validity of the Work?
A Work Permit is valid for a period of 1 year.
What do I have to do after I apply for a work permit?
Obtain Tax ID
The applicant must obtain valid Tax payer identification card after a work permit is granted. This would mean that the applicant will be subjected to pay personal tax during the fiscal tax year.
Report to Immigration Police
The applicant is subjected to report to the Immigration Police every 90 days.
