Thinking of starting a business in Thailand? 🇹🇭
Here are 7 things you should know BEFORE you register a company.
Thailand is a great place to do business, but foreign investors need to understand a few important rules from the start:
1️⃣ Business Structure — A Thai Limited Company is common, but BOI, branch or representative office structures may be more suitable in some cases.
2️⃣ Foreign Ownership — 100% foreign ownership is possible in certain situations, but many businesses are subject to restrictions under Thailand’s Foreign Business Act.
3️⃣ Company Registration — Your shareholders, directors, registered capital, business objectives and address should be planned properly from Day One.
4️⃣ Tax — Companies may have obligations for Corporate Income Tax, VAT and Withholding Tax depending on their activities.
5️⃣ Visa & Work Permit — Owning a Thai company does not automatically mean you can legally work in Thailand.
6️⃣ Bank Account — Thai banks normally require company documents and KYC information, particularly for foreign shareholders and directors.
7️⃣ Ongoing Compliance — After incorporation, accounting, tax filings, annual financial statements and corporate compliance continue every year.
The key is not just to register a company —
it’s to structure it correctly before you start.
