SEAJust was invited to participate in the 66the Plenary meeting of the European Judicial Network (EJN)

On 27-29 May 2026, Ms. Flavia Romiti, SEAJust Secretariat, UNODC ROSEAP, represented the SEAJust in the 66th EJN Plenary Meeting and presented on key developments and achievements of the SEAJust network over the past year.

The EJN Plenary was held in Cyprus and was attended by over 100 representatives of the Central Authorities of EU Member States, as well as EU candidates, EJN associated countries, third countries and partner institutions. SEAJust is a partner institution of EJN. The Plenary featured a workshop discussion on ‘Cooperation with non-EU countries and judicial networks’ in which members considered avenues to strengthen partnerships and collaboration.

The SEAJust Organized a Side Event on “United against Scam Centres – A SEAJust-led Approach to Transnational Fraud”

During the 35th Session of the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (CCPCJ), SEAJust organized a side event entitled “United against Scam Centres – A SEAJust-led Approach to Transnational Fraud.” The event was organized by the Republic of Korea and co-hosted by the Kingdom of Thailand, the Republic of Maldives, and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Regional Office for Southeast Asia and the Pacific (ROSEAP).
Opening remarks were delivered by Ms. Jiyeon Lee, Director of the International Criminal Affairs Division, Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Korea, and Justice (Retd.) Uz Abbas Shareef, Prosecutor General of the Republic of Maldives.
The panelists included Mr. Mohamed Abdulla, Senior Public Prosecutor, Prosecutor General’s Office of the Maldives; Dr. Sanpat Ratjatawan, Public Prosecutor, Office of the Attorney General of Thailand; Ms. Flavia Romiti, SEAJust Secretariat, UNODC ROSEAP; and Ms. Myungwon Keum, Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Expert, UNODC.
The side event was held on 2 June 2026 from 15:00 to 16:00 hrs. (CEST) in Room M6 at the Vienna International Centre, Vienna, Austria, and was also livestreamed online for remote participants.

Canada Becomes the Newest Member of the SEAJust Network

On 13 May 2026, the South East Asia Justice Network (SEAJust) held an Extraordinary Plenary Meeting online to consider Canada’s membership application.

Representatives from 18 member countries attended the meeting and voted unanimously to accept Canada as the network's 23rd member.

SEAJust was established in March 2020 by eight Southeast Asian nations as a network of central authorities dedicated to international legal cooperation, with the support of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). Since its founding, SEAJust has expanded beyond Southeast Asia to include countries across South Asia, East Asia, Oceania, Europe, and North America.

Currently, the 23 member jurisdictions are: Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Canada, France, Hong Kong SAR of PRC, Indonesia, Japan, Lao PDR, Macao SAR of PRC, Malaysia, Maldives, Mongolia, Myanmar, the People's Republic of China, the Philippines, the Republic of Korea, Romania, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste, the United States of America, and Viet Nam. SEAJust Marks Its 6th Anniversary at UNODC ROSEAP

The SEAJust Secretariat commemorated the 6th Anniversary of SEAJust today at the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime Regional Office for Southeast Asia and the Pacific (ROSEAP) in Bangkok.

The ceremony was co-presided over by Benedikt Hofmann, Deputy Representative of ROSEAP; Mongkol Chirachaisakul, Deputy Attorney General of Thailand; and Yongmin Park, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Bangkok. The event highlighted the continued importance of regional cooperation in strengthening mutual legal assistance in criminal matters across Southeast Asia and beyond. The current members of SEAJust are 22 countries and territories in Southeast Asia, East Asia, South Asia, Oceania, Europe and North America.

The anniversary event was attended in person by SEAJust Contact Points from Thailand and France, along with members of the SEAJust Secretariat. Additional participants joined the event virtually.

Representatives from partner networks—including Central Asia and Southern Caucasus Network (CASC), European Judicial Network (EJN), Eurojust, and the GlobE Network—also participated, reflecting the strong cooperation among international judicial and law enforcement networks.

The anniversary celebration reaffirmed SEAJust’s role as a key platform for enhancing regional cooperation and coordination in criminal justice matters.

On March 18, 2025, H.E. Mr. Jumpon Phansumrit, Deputy Attorney General of the Kingdom of Thailand, welcomed a delegation from Cambodia’s Central Authority for Mutual Legal Assistance (MLA), led by H.E. Mr. Khlok Dara, Director General of International Affairs and Judicial Development, Ministry of Justice of the Kingdom of Cambodia.

The two-day visit to the Office of the Attorney General of Thailand (OAG) was jointly organized by the ASEAN Center for International Legal Cooperation, International Affairs Department, OAG, and the UNODC Regional Office for Southeast Asia and the Pacific (ROSEAP), with support from the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Korea.

The exchange focused on Thailand’s criminal justice system, the role of the Attorney General as the Central Authority, and best practices for handling MLA requests. Bilateral discussions were also held to strengthen cooperation between the Central Authorities of both countries.

This initiative is part of the SEAJust network, which fosters regional and global justice collaboration among its 22 members.

SEAJust Celebrates 5 Years of International Cooperation! 🌏⚖️

SEAJust marks its 5th anniversary since its founding on March 9, 2020! Co-hosted by the Office of the Attorney General (OAG), Kingdom of Thailand, Ministry of Justice, Republic of Korea, and UNODC, the celebration took place on March 10, 2025, at the 120th Year Meeting Hall, OAG, bringing together representatives from from 22 member countries and administrative regions.

From a regional initiative to a global network, SEAJust continues to enhance cross-border legal cooperation in criminal matters. Here's to more years of advancing justice together! ⚖️✨
