Ateny Wek appoints media personality Chol Duang as his office executive director

The new Minister of ICT and Postal Services, Ateny Wek Ateny, has named former SSBC journalist Chol Duang as his office executive director after officially assuming office on Wednesday.

Chol, a respected media figure, previously served as a news anchor at SSBC and hosted several talk shows on the national broadcaster.

Adut Kiir is moving in the right direction; her political judgement is precise.

Adut’s benevolent hand can be felt in recent key decisions, including the appointment of Cpt. Mabior Garang and Hon. Ateny Wek to cabinet. It takes a great person to identify greatness in others.

Cpt. Mabior Garang is one person who has endured painful political isolation because of his uncompromising stand against regime change. He was a victim of mischievous gossips and insecurities of former advisors.

Indeed, the arrival of the proverbial wung-weng is changing the national mood. The ongoing celebrations in Juba, Akobo, Warrap, etc point to it. It is assumed, and rightly so, that Adut’s advice as a daughter and professional can never be tainted by selfish interests that once held the President captive.

Great minds- those with the right skills and knowledge - can be confident that they’ll be seen and sought. The hallmark of a visionary republic is to embrace builders.

However, my appreciation to Hon. Adut Kiir will not be complete if I do not recommend one of South Sudan’s celebrated pilots, Eng. Dr Ayiei Garang Ayiei whose PhD thesis on civil aviation was circulated widely months ago, to her consideration.

South Sudan Civil Aviation is neglected and is crying loud for reforms. It is now time to steady government parastatals to yield public profits.

Parliament summons Minister of defense to explain why soldiers are suffering

The National Parliament has summoned the Minister of Defense and Veteran Affairs to explain the current living conditions of War victims and veteran of the liberation struggle.

The Minister will also explain to the members of parliament issues related to the welfare of the members of the South Sudan People's Defense Forces (SSPDF)

According to the letter extended to the media, the members of parliament will deliberate on this summon in the today’s ordinary sitting no.16/2025

“Summon of the Hon. Minister of Defense and Veterans Affairs to present comprehensive report on the motion on an urgent matter and public importance concerning the living conditions of war victims and veterans of the liberation struggle for South Sudan post-independence” the statement partly read.

Know the difference.

Attorney-General👇

1. Attorney-General (AG) na the same person as Minister of Justice or Commissioner of Justice (Federal or State).

2. Attorney-General na political appointment. Anybody wey get this appointment, na better or low key politician.

3. AG na Chief Law Officer for the country or State.

4. Na him be legal adviser to the government.

5. Na him dey charge people go Court through him office.

Solicitor-General 👇

1. Solicitor-General (SG) na public servant. Him appointment no be political appointment.

2. Him dey work under the AG for Ministry of Justice whether Federal or State

3. Governor or President no go fit just wake up, sack the SG. But them fit dey their bed, sack AG.

4. SG dey work too as Permanent Secretary for Ministry of Justice.

5. SG go dey, AG go come, and e go go.

To be AG or SG, you must be lawyer.
