🇸🇸 While South Sudanese prepare for December 2026 elections, our democracy faces a critical legal test at the East African Court of Justice.

Our case (REFERENCE NO. 37 OF 2023) challenges a law that lets the President hand-pick 5% of parliament members—16 of 332 seats decided by one person, not voters.

On 11 March 2026, the EACJ heard our urgent plea. Here's what happened:

The government's legal team was blocked from defending their position because they failed to follow court rules—they didn't file their defense on time. Yet they claim they weren't even notified. The court's own records tell a different story: exhibits show they were served with the hard copies. Emails prove it too.

When government lawyers can ignore court deadlines and still participate, justice becomes a game the powerful play.

Democracy isn't automatic. It's defended in courtrooms, one procedure at a time.

This case is about ensuring YOUR vote counts—not disappearing into a presidential appointment.

The fight for free and fair elections continues. 🙏
