We had our 1st firm trip in Seoul, South Korea in 2018. And 7 years later, we decided to revisit it again but added on Busan at the 1st leg of the tour totalling a period of 9 days! 🇰🇷 (This group shot was taken on Haeundae Beach which is located just in front of the L7 Lotte Hotel we stayed in Busan.)

This landmark case is finally completed after almost 2 years. And today was our “2nd victory” in terms of sentencing where a life sentence was replaced with an imprisonment term of 17 years. Kudos to our Josephus Tan , Cory Wong Guo Yean and ex-intern Edwin Lim Wee Keat for their pro bono efforts! ❤️

This is a rare moment in our recent legal history where a convicted killer has her murder conviction quashed and reduced to culpable homicide! The last time this happened was in 2012 in the seminal case of Pathip Selvan v PP handled by the legendary Mr. Subhas Anandan!

And some 13 years later, our Criminal Defence Team led by our Josephus Tan and Cory Wong Guo Yean (and assisted by our beloved intern Edwin Lim Wei Keat) mounted the defence of grave and sudden provocation successfully at the Court of Appeal presided by our Chief Justice Sundaresh Menon, Judge of Appeal Tay Yong Kwang and Judge of the Appellate Division See Kee Oon and literally saved the young life of a Myanmar domestic helper!

Note: This is a pro bono case under the aegis of the Criminal Legal Aid Scheme by Pro Bono SG.

The Court of Appeal allowed Zin Mar Nwe's defence on the grounds of grave and sudden provocation.
