The track surface at Bedok Stadium is in excellent condition - kicking myself why I don’t run here more often.

New Autumnal Resolution - at least 1 session here per fortnight going forward.

Inexcusable not to use it frequently as it’s highly accessible by bike from home, not crowded, breezy enough to offset the humidity & near enough to Bedok Heartbeat for a cleansing shower post run. Oh, & did I mention that usage of the track is free !!

That’s quite insane - 1 pull up every 5.5 sec for 1 hr 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️. Truly super Herculean effort 💪🏼💪🏼👍🏼👍🏼

The 48-year-old completed an average of 11 pull-ups a minute for an hour to set the record. Read more at straitstimes.com.

A Day of Remembrance

28 years ago on this day, you slipped your moorings and set sail for your final voyage. Gone but definitely not forgotten.

Because of your grit, resourcefulness and native intelligence, traits which I like to imagine I inherited, all of us enjoy a quality of life at home and at work today so far removed from our poverty days of old. Even now, I am occasionally reminded of myself as that scrawny little boy bathing under the communal standpipe when I shower in the comfort of our home, not to mention enjoying all the other creature comforts & rewards of our present life - something which you could only live out in part before you left us but dreamt of as a whole during your younger days.

You always thought you would not live to see me past my schooling years yet providence blessed you to live long enough to care for my Ah Boy. In the blink of an eye, Ah Boy is now a man, a husband and a father and I stand now where you used to, as a proud grandparent. Ah Girl is now a woman and a wife.

As the circle of life perpetuates itself within our family, I want to pause for more than a moment to reflect on your life and thank you for your sacrifices, secure in the knowledge that as our matriarch, you would be so pleased with your great grandson Elliot and great grand daughter Isabelle whom I know you will adore if you were still here.

Missing you Mum, through all these years with love and gratitude.

I am pleased to advise that I have been appointed to the panel of Principal Mediators at the Singapore Mediation Centre (SMC) for a period of 3 years, starting from 1st April 2021.

I will forever be indebted to my mentor, former Justice Goh Joon Seng for having started me on my journey into the world of ADR in general and mediation in particular, placing so much faith and infusing so much encouragement in me in the last decade or so to pursue my dreams and to never let go. The same also goes to all of my friends and supporters out there who have helped me in one way or another to realize this moment. You know who you are - thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support and belief in me.

Chairing the august committee to produce this Case Study has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my professional life. The experience of leading and collaborating with a team of learned researchers led by Prof Lam from NTU's MESD, an experienced ISO Consultant and the project management team from SDO@SCIC has been priceless.

Having presented the findings of the Study after its release last year to a broad base of domestic and international audiences, am so pleased to see it now being featured by ISO itself - a thoughtful validation of the quantitative and qualitative benefits of Mass Flow Metering usage in the Bunkering Industry which the Study shone a bright light on.

The ISO member for Singapore, SSC, has published research showing how standards improve transparency, quality and trust in the maritime sector.

A new initiative to settle small claims in maritime and oil and gas – SCRIBE or Small Claims Resolved Informally by Experts – administered by LWP.SG Consultants in Singapore, has been soft launched.

Thankful to Tradewinds for this article today to help spread news of the launch of SCRIBE. The procedures in SCRIBE are designed to help parties locked in disputes arising from small claims to better manage the resolution process themselves, with a little assist from legal counsel if needed. Time and costs can be optimized in a proportionate manner to match the size of the claim.
