Selling an HDB flat involves two different clocks: finding a buyer, then completing the HDB resale process.
The often-mentioned eight-week period does not start when the listing goes live or when the OTP is granted. HDB describes completion as about eight weeks after it accepts the resale application.
Before planning your move, check:
- The 21-day OTP deadline and 4pm expiry
- The HDB option and exercise-fee limits
- The seven-day matching-submission window
- Whether a temporary extension of stay is actually available
Joe Tay has put the stages, official HDB references and moving checklist in one guide:

Use your signed OTP and HDB's case-specific notices for the actual transaction dates. The guide is for planning and does not promise a fixed selling duration.
