Nicholas Morrish is a composer-electronic musician based in Berlin.

His solo electronic practice embraces synthesis as a tool for speculative worldbuilding in which uncanny renderings of acoustic bodies encounter synthetic figures of opaque origin. Recently, his project Belly and Other Members was nominated in the electronic music category at Forecast 10. Performances have been given at Radialsystem, Gaswerk Music Days, Forecast Festival and Naxos Hallenkonzerte among others.

His concert work spans (electro)acoustic ensemble pieces, collaborations with improvising musicians, and multimedia projects, with performances by the London Symphony Orchestra, International Contemporary Ensemble/LA Phil, Ensemble Intercontemporain, Münchener Kammerorchester, and Erwan Keravec, among others. Festival appearances include MaerzMusik (DE), HCMF (UK), Rainy Days (LUX), Gaudeamus (NL), Noon to Midnight / LA Phil (USA), Manifeste (FR), and Impuls (AUT). Notable distinctions include the Mendelssohn Scholarship (2018–2020), a Gaudeamus Award nomination (2019), and the Royal Philharmonic Society Composition Prize (2014).

Ongoing interdisciplinary collaborations have led to music theatre/concert-installation commissions from the Beethoven Orchester Bonn, Musikverein Wien, Deutsche Oper am Rhein, and Musiktheatertage Wien/Kollektiv Spitzwegerich. Installations have been presented internationally across Europe and Asia, including at the Al Wasl Dome (Dubai), MONOM, and Himmel unter Berlin, in collaboration with groups such as phase7 performing.arts, Kling Klang Klong, and Das Dur.

Nick’s residency at EMS is supported by the Creative Europe Programme of the EU, implemented by the Goethe-Institut.

Lars Lundehave Hansen (DK) works with sound as an artistic material and a central element in his works. With more than 25 years of experience as a composer and sound artist, he has distinguished himself as one of the country’s visionary pioneers in the field. A graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts, Lundehave Hansen has received awards both nationally and internationally. In 2021, the very special publication 20 Years of Sound Art was published, which collected and documented a number of the highlights of his extensive production.

The physical and technical experiments are central to Lars Lundehave Hansen’s productions – including in the concrete visualizations of sound, which point back to some of the pioneers of sound art in their ambition to unite the sculptural with the instrumental. “The relationship between work and sound work has been a central dynamic throughout my production. While in the beginning it was the sound itself and its dynamics that I concentrated on shaping as works of art in themselves, over time I have moved towards something else – namely works of art that are experienced as sound. This distinction has been an important consideration along the way,” says Lars Lundehave Hansen.

Lundehave Hansen has performed all over the world and has a long list of commissions, collaborations, exhibitions and releases to his name.
